Kanzashi (簪) are traditional Japanese hair accessories. Their origins date back to the ancient Japan when people believed that the power to protect from evil spirits held in the point of a special stick. It is said that these hair ornaments also had a second use as a weapon in case of emergency attack. Consequently, Japanese began wearing small pointed sticks in their hair as good luck charms. Nowadays both Japanese and Western women rediscover various types of traditional and modern design kanzashi. Decorating hair with these amazing hair accessories once again became fashionable element of modern and stylish outfit.
